HOUSTON – April 14, 2009. TECH CORPS Texas is pleased to announce its involvement in a developing project to assist U.S. military veterans with special needs in Texas through the provision of computer systems and appropriate training. Through this unique collaborative effort, returning heroes are provided with personal computers and training that enhances their skills and quality of life, and assisting in their transition to post-military life.
TECH CORPS Texas staff and volunteers has extended its services to this population through the refurbishing of 130 donated computer systems loaded with Microsoft Windows XP, Open Office, antivirus/anti-spyware, and assistive technology packages for the hearing, sight, and mobility impaired. The resulting impact is that many veterans will ultimately receive vital technology tools that assist in their transition back to civilian life, and access to training that will enhance their future.
